Worth knowing: Audacity 4.0 does not yet include MIDI tracks, the Mixer, macros or VAMP/LADSPA hosting, and the OpenVINO AI plugins do not yet support it; 3.x releases remain downloadable.
Audacity is a free, open-source audio recorder and editor for Windows, macOS and Linux maintained by Muse Group and contributors. Version 4.0 (September 2026) rebuilt the interface on Qt with a new clip editing model, workspaces and per-track meters.
